Founders Brewing Company- Grand Rapids, Michigan

The newest, hottest brewery to hit Maryland is Founders Brewing Company out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. In 1997, Mike Stevens and Dave Engbers decided they wanted to chase their dreams of opening a brewery. They quit their full time jobs and took out massive loans figuring if you’re going to live life, you ought to live it hard, without regrets. They began brewing well-balanced beers but the brewery wasn’t too successful. So, on the verge of bankruptcy, they decided to make beers they loved; complex, in-your-face ales, with huge aromatics, bigger body, and tons of flavor. Well the plan worked as Founders is routinely rated as one of the top breweries in the world by both and They’ve won six World Beer Cup medals, four European Beer Star medals and three Great American Beer Festival medals—thirteen medals total across eight different beers. We currently carry three of their styles, All Day IPA, Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale and Porter.

Special introductory price of $10.99 per 6 pack and $39.99 case.

All Day IPA
This is “the” beer you’ve been waiting for! Keeps your taste satisfied while keeping your senses sharp. An all-day IPA naturally brewed with a complex array of malts, grains and hops that is balanced for optimal aromatics and a clean finish. It’s the perfect reward for an honest day’s work and the ultimate companion to celebrate life’s simple pleasures. Ratebeer: 94points

Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale
So good it’s almost wrong. Dark ruby in color and brewed with seven varieties of imported malts. Complex in finish, with hints of smoke and peat, paired with a malty richness and a right hook of hop power to give it the bad attitude that a beer named Dirty Bastard has to live up to. Ain’t for the wee lads. Ratebeer: 97points

Pours silky black with a creamy tan head. The nose is sweet with strong chocolate and caramel malt presence. No absence of hops gives Founders’ robust porter the full flavor you deserve and expect. Cozy like velvet. It’s a lover, not a fighter. Ratebeer: 100points
